This program is designed to stimulate the love of learning, increase self confidence, enhance co-ordination and perception skills, enrich the mother/toddler relationship and most importantly to connect and Praise Allah our creator and our Rabb .It is Based on a syllabus which we intend to be  Islamically compliant regarding the Tarbiya of children Inshala. As Muslims we are so aware that the mothers lap is the first “school”. The word Tarbiya means to nurture rear or take care of a child from stage to stage until he/she becomes obedient and righteous!

WHAT DOES MUSLIMAHS & TOTS OFFER FOR THE MOTHER & CHILD?

    a)    A mother is an educator and is therefore the child’s first madressah. It is her effort on Deen that makes and shapes our children into the adults that they will one day be.

    b)    The Muslimahs & Tots workshops on Tarbiya of children provides an Islamically Compliant environment for Muslimahs & Tots to interact within in, away from household chores, phone calls etc and to spend quality time with their little ones and to socialize.

    c)    Lays the foundation for Academic Success.
    ·        Did you know that the first 3 years of life is when 80% of brain potential is developed?
    ·        This is when personality sets in. After birth begins the crucial years, in the first three years, the child may undergo influences that will alter his entire future. People are intelligent beings and need mental food almost more than physical food. This is the critical time to enhance perceptive skills by an introduction to colours, sizes, shapes, number concepts, spatial awareness, and skills developing, fine motor and gross motor skills.
    ·         Of course inculcating a firm belief in Allah and the knowledge of our Deen should take preference since these are the crucial years for laying firm foundations Inshala

    d)    Free Play, with an extensive array of education equipment based on the principle of Play Therapy, whereby the caregiver/mom is attentive and involved and is not expectative or prescriptive. It is your little ones game not yours – giving of – “I’m here for you” energy! Providing the necessary feelings of security to encourage them to explore and grow at their own pace.

    e)    Exposes the toddler to a social atmosphere and enables them to relate to a group experience with the security of mom.

    f)     Preparing the toddler for pre school in a sound environment. Exposure to an adult as an Educator.

    g)    These workshops also serve as a platform for Dawah whereby we discuss issues pertaining to Deen.It is also community based.

    h)    The toddlers are allowed to choose their own activities which  builds self confidence. Therefore the emphasis is on “following the child”. Tots are allowed to choose which equipment they want to work within a structured routine environment aswell. They are given many experiences to learn concretely which enhance abstract concepts

    i)     Create a warm, friendly environment where the Muslimahs are able to come and meet solely for the Pleasure of Allah and provide a safe haven for mothers to get stimulating ideas as well as Spiritual Insight! This should be as place where everyone is treated as a Sister in Islam with that caring bond we as Muslimahs must have.

    j)      As mothers are the first Madressah, the informal learning about parenting and forming support system for parents, friendships, discussions in child rearing techniques according to Sunnah and Hadith, weaning, breastfeeding, potty training etc. should all be emphasized and recognized.

    k)    Providing age appropriate high standard, good quality educational equipment and activities which are necessary for each stage of development.

    l)      Information should be given to Muslimahs regarding Parenting issues in Islam; the way our Prophet Mohammed (SAW) has indicated us to treat our children, nurturing them in an Islamic upbringing to develop them into righteous, pious individuals Inshalah. Also any other deeni advices may be given. This may be done by handing out leaflets or putting up posters, organizing group discussions, workshops and short courses. This all will create a good support system for Muslimahs.
